They are two of the Indian cricket team’s most eccentric characters and now Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have teamed up to try their hand at signing.
In an advertisement for Himalaya Men, Kohli and Pant took part in a song where the Indian skipper tells the youngster to use the face wash to cleanse his face of pimples before a night out.
The video instantly went viral on Twitter after Kohli posted the video to his personal account which sparked over 1,500 retweets and close to 20,000 likes.
The commercial comes after Pant, one of India’s brightest young talents, was a questionable omission from India’s World Cup squad.
The explosive 21-year-old starred on India’s tour to successful Australia, scoring 350 runs at an average of 58.33 whilst endearing himself to Aussie crowds with his sledging, but was pipped to the second wicket-keeper’s spot by veteran One Day specialist Dinesh Karthik.
However, Pant could be a late inclusion into India’s squad in place of all-rounder Kedar Jadhav who suffered a shoulder injury during the IPL.
Despite Pant being a notable omission in Kohli’s 15-man squad, teams are allowed to change players up until May 23.
Speaking to the Times of India, Kohli explained why he opted for the experience of Karthik over Pant.
“In pressure situations, he’s shown composure,” Kohli said.
“It was something that everybody on board was convinced about. He has the experience.
“If, god forbid, something happens to MS (Dhoni), Karthik can be immensely valuable behind the wickets. As a finisher, he’s done well.”
India will open its World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5 in Southampton.
